Labour Day weekend

I like long weekends. I don't have to feel guilty if I'm not working, and I'm not the only person at home. Even better, when I do get some work done it feels like a bonus. Clearly, the year should be entirely made of weekend. Does anyone else find it a bit ironic that we celebrate "Labour Day" by getting most of the population to stop working, though?

Golgotha was a bit flat. Actually, despite the earliest nightclub arrival in recorded history (10:30pm? What were we thinking?) it was pretty abysmal until at least 12:30am. When there are more goths getting slurpees in the 7-11 than there are in the venue, something is wrong with your nightclub... Still, we had excellent company for the getting-to-the-club part of the night, right up until we managed to lose everyone some time after midnight. I got an SMS from [livejournal.com profile] thekit at 2:30 though, so I assume the rest of the group were hiding in the club somewhere...

While the nightclub part of the evening kinda failed, I got to catch up with some people I haven't seen in months ([livejournal.com profile] damien6, [livejournal.com profile] thekit, [livejournal.com profile] deathbyshinies) and others I haven't seen in years (Julie & Audrey), and bounced around ideas for Crazy Schemes. Is EmoCaptureTM a next-generation version of Motion Capture, or is is a catch-and-release program for My Chemical Romance fans? Will the UtiliCorset be the next underground fashion craze to follow the UtiliKilt ("because what corset-wearers need most, apart from the ability to breathe comfortably, is pockets")? Do all good (or bad) marketing ideas happen after midnight? Who can say?

I've had a very relaxed day today. It's involved lots of sleeping in, curling up with a good book, and having Lon & [livejournal.com profile] mousebane over for a game of Dust (in which [livejournal.com profile] aeliel demonstrated that she can crush enemies underfoot in world-spanning strategy games with the best of them). Tomorrow is my main chance to get some painting done, before the next heat wave comes and cooks my pigments on the palette again. Once the temperature ramps up, I think I should get to work updating my website...

Sorry we lost you guys.

Shortly after you headed upstairs, everyone else decided to do the same, then, standing on the stairs on the second floor [livejournal.com profile] thekit looked up and said 'I wonder where that goes to'.
So we headed further up expecting to find locked doors, and finding instead a green room with very grotty couches, where random people kept drifting in to explore and talk to us.
When we got down to the dancefloor we couldn't find you any more...

It was a rather exceptionally flat Golgotha, wasn't it?
The highlight of the clubbing part for me was having my entire outfit glow under UV. Fun, yes, but I've come to expect more from goth clubs.
The hanging out part beforehand was great as always of course. With the added amusement of human tetris.

Ah... the mythical green room. I still haven't ventured that far up the stairs, and didn't think to check that one.

We were on level 2 for most of the night, on or near the dancefloor. I think we headed home at about ten to two, though.

I would *so* wear a UtiliCorset, how awesome!

Jin was wearing the "prototype" - if he posts any photos, I'll send you the link :)

I've been planning on making more utilicorsets, once I've got the parts. They feature MOLLE compatible webbing for attachment of pouches and removable cable routing.

Currently only made in black.

Just found out that James Cameron has invented EmoCapture before I got a chance to, only he has just one monitor, rather than a monitor on each actor's face.
