All along the corridor, worry-lined faces are showing signs of strain. Hushed voices talk in whispers outside the rooms - "When's it due?" "How are you holding up?" It's heavier than I thought; growing quickly over the final days.

I'd like to do things naturally, if I can manage it. As I refuse assistance, the others stare at me in horror. "But that's barbaric!" "In this day and age, too!" "I'm sure nobody does that any more - not since the chemicals were easily available."

...All I did was point out that I don't drink coffee. Honestly, from the reactions you'd think that I was giving birth without an anaesthetic...

Hey, I don't either. I mean, maybe I'm not the best example of what to do academically, but as far as I'm concerned, the rush isn't worth the crash. Same with too much processed sugar during overnighters.
