Not a bad end to a week...
Jun. 19th, 2004 08:50 pmWell, Lychnobyte rocked. 'twas a pity so many people couldn't make it, but I had a good night. Hope those who needed R&R got it - there's a lot of stress/ilness/symptoms of being alive going on at the moment. Ended up with one spare ticket, after buying a bundle of them at Peril in the afternoon - I gave it to someone about to enter before us, though.
We turned up later than planned, after some last minute creativity saw new clothes made for
aeliel,
delphaeus and I - in case I haven't mentioned it lately,
aeliel is a genius... we'd still be making things now, if not for her help. I think I saw someone with a camera wandering around, so I'll try to track down any photos I find from the night. 'tis the season to wear shiny clothes... I'll be adding some extra bits for the abyss birthday (July 2nd), and then making something with lots of metallic blue in it (I have blue anime pilot goggles that are crying out to be worn).
Highlights - talking to a bunch of new people (and previously unknown old people). Dancing my little legs off. Watching the other three leaping around in an inflatable jumping castle (the amount of effort required to divest myself of stompy boots and spiky objects just wasn't worth me joining them...). Being handed free glowsticks to play with. Dancing like a swarm of fireflies (I had glowing braids, too...). Watching some fantastic glow Poi tricks from the performers. Wondering if one of the performers was
astro_dust's lost twin. And did I mention dancing my legs off?
Of course, I've misssed the last week of training, so I have a whole new set of aches and pains. Apparently, I've slipped back of out being "properly" fit- I didn't mind going home when everyone else wanted to go. No more staying an extra few hours to burn off the last vestiges of energy... Hmmm, must remember to do some proper stretching before I crash out tonight. I plan to get a little bit of sleep, then wake up early and pack my bags - I'll be in Canberra 'til next weekend, for an X-ray Difraction course at ANU.
I hope those with exams have a good final week while I'm gone.
tarleon, have a good trip (and don't lose your passport while you're over there - I recommend attaching it to your hand with epoxy resin...). Depending on internet access while I'm away, I'll probably be back online in a week or so ;-)
