Zombie insects... arise!

I found a visitor in my lab. Unfortunately, it was dead as a doornail. It was perfectly preserved, and sitting next to the lab camera, so I thought I'd take a photo. Macabre? Perhaps...

Things are getting busy - this is mostly a good thing, as boredom leads to all sorts of problems in my world. Secret Project #1 needs to be sent off by tomorrow morning; two competitions for Insurgent need to be turned into forum polls. Lon's game starts tonight - I'll have to go to the I.I. AGM first, though. I'm painting the trophy for the "Battle of the Ditch" Oz vs. NZ tournanents, in whatever time I can spare. I need to write a Scientist Profile and an Annual Performance Assessment for work, photograph more samples, shift a big vat of chemical waste into storage, and tear down/rebuilt an 82-page procedures document.

Next week will probably be busier though, so I'll enjoy things while they last...

While at my lowest ebb last night, as my day collapsed in on itself, my mum called to say that her father is in hospital. He's had surgery for a brain haemorrhage, which has apparently been slowly developing after a fall last month. I've never spoken to him on the phone before, but I'm going to try calling today - he should be awake by some time this afternoon.
