morsla: (runes)
After much searching, I think I've managed to place an approximate date on "when music was music." Radiocarbon dates are still to come in, but preliminary findings from the lab (my computer, with the speakers cranked to eleven) suggest that it was some time around 1983.

I've just come home from the travel agent, after handing over a very large pile of cash to finalise my airline tickets. Feeling a little despondent about the sorry state of my finances, I delved into the "in case of emergency fund" (a couple of dollars credit on an online music store), and bought a copy of Born In Hell - live Black Sabbath recordings from 1983, when Ian Gillan was with the band. As cheering-up presents go, this one hits the spot :)

I already had a copy of the massive version of War Pigs, but I'm not sure why it took me so long to pick up the rest of the tracks. There's a nine minute version of Iron Man on there! Not to mention a guitar solo so big (8:42) that needed its own track number. If the neighbours hadn't stripped me of all compassion with their 4am parties, I'd almost feel sorry for them... instead, I think I'll sit back and turn this one up some more.
