So many things happening... so little time to write about them. Welcome to life in point form...

Thursday
Dark Jester. Great night, goth comedy (and clubbing afterparty) at the old Paladin venue. Almost all the comics were fantastic, and [livejournal.com profile] aeliel and I had a good chat to various organisery people at the door as we were leaving. Felt odd to see the Paladin so clean though...

Friday
Conquest began; I stayed at home to paint for Liber Animus. My eyes are beginning to bleed... I'm regretting the decision to paint everything in red and black, although I've figured out how to mix my highlights again. A curiosity for those who don't paint: it's hard to mix a "lighter" shade of red, but all raised areas on a 3D red surface will have it. Adding white makes pink; adding yellow makes orange. I went for optical illusions with shades of brown instead... it seems to work well.

Saturday
Conquest again - running around to sign up for games, and generally catching up with people that I haven't seen in too long. Played part 1 (the "kids" session) of [livejournal.com profile] mousebane's Road Trip game, which was a lot of fun - I incited a riot, started a revolution in a Juvenile Detention Centre, and generally found which motivations everyone had that fit my needs.

Sunday
Yet more Conquest. Played [livejournal.com profile] jaquiej's Advanced Inhumation game (a group project for final year Assassin's Guild students, in the Discworld). The game was fun, and I liked my character (a bookish alchemist who really wasn't cut out for assassination work) - I think we could have done a bit more work at the end though, as the final scene was a bit anticlimactic. Next time we'll make more convoluted plots...

I also played part 2 of Road Trip - fun, but I liked the first session a bit better. I think it was probably connected to my character - both of my favourite archetypes (the fixer and the resourceful "doer") were grabbed early, leaving me with a 2050AD version of Ozzy Ozbourne. Woody was fun to play (I liked the way I'd kidnapped someone before the game, and then got too drunk to remember it...) though.

[livejournal.com profile] kitling talked me into playing [livejournal.com profile] teknohippi's freeform the following morning, and I signed up before realising that we were going out all night - by the time I realised this (about midnight) it was far too late...

Sunday Night
Went out to Oblivion vs. Psychonaut @ the CBD hotel, which turned out to be a surprisingly good night (it was veeery quiet when we arrived, but got quite packed later on). Two dancefloors, and I could generally manage to find things to dance to. Went home around 3am, and was in bed by about 4am, feeling rather weary. Enter the final day of the convention...

Monday
6 hours of 7th Sea games on a 9am start, after two nights of clubbing and a few days of convention? Errr... sure, just pass me the adrenochrome. The King's Sceptre was split into two sessions - the first was a small (four-person) prelude, which was a welcome chance for me to wake up :) I may have played the only genuinely good character in the whole 20-player affair... Good game, the first freeform I've played in for years, but I'd love to have played the earlier games to pick up more of the back-story - I kept getting asked about events that weren't on my character sheet. Now I want to know what happens in the next installment of the game...

Now I'm back at work after a fairly hectic holiday. I have to find out how to join the Staff Association (turns out that my botched-up induction from 2000 never did see me join after all...), talk to supervisors about whether I have a job here after June, and determine whether I'm full time (bloody well hope so!). After I get my degree certificate on Saturday morning I'll hassle them about actually paying me at the level I work at, too. It's been four and a half years of this mess, and I need to make some changes...
