morsla: (lookin)

You know you're bored when you start randomly googling things. I have the attention span of a gnat, today - I only need to wait five minutes until I can start on the next batch of samples at work, but already my mind has wandered.

Just found out that I'm behind eight of the top ten mentions of my username, on Google :-) [livejournal.com profile] bonesinger referred to me as Morsla at her Pirate Party (while offering me cake, no less), and a surprising number of people seem to be doing that these days. Mainly from game-related forums, but I seem to have accidentally grown a new name, with no conscious effort on my part. Interesting...

In other news, I started writing another game. Bits of World of Darkness, Books of Magic, Sandman, cyberpunk, Underworld (not the film), Neverwhere, Matrix, and everything else that has caught my eye. It's probably closest to a Mage game, but without any of the WW rules - Big Eyes Small Mouth does everything I need a system to do, and people can learn it in under five minutes. Sounds like a plan.

The setting is present-day Melbourne, with a revamp on the tired old gothic-punk setting - supernaturals are very much the minority, because I'm getting sick of the "super-powerful-ancient-forces-that-control-mankind" cliche. Despite that, I think there will be more acceptance of "paranormal" influences - Joe Public has some understanding of what he shares his city with, and the smaller populations remove the need for Masquerades/Veils/The Mists/etc.

The best thing about writing is that you never have to worry about boredom while travelling to and from work :-) Suddenly, that train trip really doesn't take long at all...

In my own defense, I was quite drunk by that stage, and probably had difficulty remembering any of your names at all. At least I didn't randomly rename you like I did to one guy. But at least i was remembering the random name I allotted him.
Re the adopting a new name: I've been Talutha for years. Its all good.

*grins* Oh, no offence taken at it. You just reminded me how many people seem to do that, these days ;)

Still, one of the joys of it is that you can choose your own name/s. I like Talutha infinitely better than my own name.

hannah calls me 'peachie' sometimes... the main place that I run into getting called my 'screen name' is at big gaming LAN's though

I couldn't resist I went and did a google search for my own screenname (well the LJ one anyway) and got only one site. It's a weird forum type thing about mysticism. The reference to submystical was a quote saying "So his strict redefinition of mysticism merely means that the magical practices of Tantra (ie Martial Arts) and Bhakti (ie weird magicians) are no longer mystical (or rather they are submystical) although the God Learners in their ignorance might have still classified them as mystical."

Well I am a practitioner of martial arts and I reckon I have some of those weird magics somewhere in me so I guess the meaning doesn't too badly suit me. ;)
