Times and Spaces In Between
Mar. 3rd, 2004 01:36 pmI'm at work, but on leave... it's a weird way of doing things. I need to take my Rec leave before it all expires at the end of the month, but also needed to see people in the Human Resources Office Of Doom - so, I now have a whole lunchbreak to kill while I wait for them to get back to the office.
Haven't been checking email much lately, as my computer decided to die a couple of days ago. I borrowed
hespa's computer for a few minutes, but I still find it strange to type on blank keys... (for those who haven't seen her well-loved keyboard, it has literally worn smooth - not a problem for touch-typing, but still a little disconcerting). My computer's now on the way back from the shop, after the service staff failed to find anything wrong with it...
Looked like an overheating problem, as it would run for about 30 seconds before cutting out. It ignored attempts to reset, but if I waited a few minutes it could be turned back on again, loading programs normally, before abruptly cutting out again. After taking it all the way out to the shop in Box Hill, it apparently started behaving itself - much to the amusement of the staff. I'll see if it keeps on working when I get it home today.
We've had an impressive turnout for the first classes of Tai Chi (this morning) and Wushu (Monday) - won't really know if people are going to stick around until about week 3, though. Still, I was impressed at the number of newcomers who arrived at 7:45am today - about 25-odd, plus the regular crew. Early morning classes are even better when they finish just in time to get fresh-baked muffins from Bluezone Cafe...
