Just checked my bibliography. About 1700 words, with no annotations. Apparently I gathered more references than I'd thought.
Had a meeting with Dave this morning, and a good 50% of what I've started doing is no longer relevant. Time for a (virtually complete) rewrite.
On the other hand, I finally cottoned on to the psychological tactics being employed by the large pile of paper next to my desk. It only has strength in numbers - dividing it, I can conquer :-) I'll only be going into any great amount of detail on about 25 papers, and I'll avoid looking at more than 4 at a time. If I can get through 3-4 per hour, that's about 8 hours more writing - and then I can start editing the bastard. This has suddenly become much easier, now I've stopped staring in morbid fascination at the enormous pile of paper.
At this rate, Friday night will either see me collapsed on a couch at P'naut, or I won't leave the dancefloor all night because of the hours of sitting at a computer desk that have dominated every waking moment in weeks (and more than a few sleeping moments, too). Bring on the weekend! Just, not before I finish this stuff...
