Some time last night, the world decided to push me out of my complacency about O-week. It started when all copies of our information handout sheet were corrupted, and continued when I rushed down to work in order to find a replacement copy...

Hours later, I had a printout in hand, and headed back into the city. A quick phonecall, and I found out that our instructor has the flu, and couldn't help with the demonstrations at lunchtime...

Then, all the local photocopying places turned out to be shut. Cue several hours of explaining to people that our handouts are coming, soon... and almost losing my voice before lunchtime.

In the end, we survived relatively well. The demo was fine, and we have been asked to do another one tomorrow - apparently, people leaping about with sticks and swords (and grappling mantis-hands...) is popular with the masses. We're on at 1:30pm tomorrow afternoon, and may have some extra people helping next time.

Apparently, we won't be able to run any classes in the gym this year (like, say, our twelve Thursday tai chi classes, starting in a week...). Political shit is being flung, and the Sports Director is going in to do "official" negotiations. Just as well that we planned to train outdoors next week, because of all the new people... but I really hope that something ends up coming of this. We can't camp outdoors forever.

Walking home, I realised why I've been running all day - training shoes are actually very hard to walk comfortably in. I intend to put my feet up for as long as possible, tonight.
