And on the other side lies sleep...
Feb. 27th, 2004 09:21 pmPhew.
Well, that was my seventh O-week, and I think it will be my last super-active one. It should be, even if that doesn't end up happening... I think I have paid my dues, at least for now.
We ran another demonstration, which went okay. My mantis form sucked (in fact, the second half I replaced with a different form, as I drew a mental blank on how to finish form #1...) but I still got to show how the movements link in sequence. I ended up doing both Tai Chi forms on my own, which was.... interesting... as it meant that I spent a long time as the only person to look at. The extra pressure helped, though, as I didn't stuff anything up this time. The other clubs (sports, and general interest) all seemed to be doing pretty well -
kikilon and the Kung Fu club were signing up heaps of people all day, and the II and FAS tables seemed busy as well.
Next week will be hectic, as the new members will be finding the classes. Cue traffic-directing-Morsla (before the classes), and a receipt-writing frenzy as we handle the new memberships. It'll be nice to see familiar faces at the classes -
vorex and
harkon have both wandered past the info table in the last two days... :-)
After that, I teach the new President and Treasurer how to do my old jobs, and then I fade away - high time I started writing my literature survey for Honours. I'm planning to train twice a week with Tai Chi, and (money permitting) I'll do the Monday night internal/push-hands class in Richmond. Add in occasional advanced Tai Chi classes (Tuesdays, later in the semester) and some stretching with Kung Fu (Saturdays, infrequently) and I think I have a nicely rounded set of classes.
I'd like to get back into being flexible - right at the moment, I'm stuck in the tail-end of last year's fitness binge, and I can feel it fading away. In the last week, I've stretched more often than I have in months, though. I can feeel it coming back again - and I discovered that I can kick well over my head, now...
Ran an Exalted game for some new Infinite Images people, which was fun. Now that I'm home again, it's time to collapse and regenerate a little - now that O-week #7 is fading into the distance. I'm sure that there is some kind of natural limit on how many of these things humans are supposed to survive...
