Got a call from Deakin yesterday: "Your enrolment forms don't contain any subjects... you will need to select all your subjects before we can process the application." I'd left it blank as the printout stated "do not select at this time," but apparently I should have ignored the warning.

Fair enough - I must have misread something. Problem is, I can't really select subjects until I've seen some form of timetable, as I have to avoid clashes. The preliminary timetable only appeared online this morning, and the forms were all due back last week. Guess I'll just check their website, pick some subjects, and get back to them by email.

  • Problem #1: The website has a wealth of content, but no navigational structure to speak of. It takes me half an hour to locate the timetable, it covers undergrad and postgrad for the entire faculty, and it's all in plain text. Whoever wrote accessibility.typeaheadfind for Firefox deserves some sort of medal.

  • Problem #2: I'm also asked for my uni email address. Simple enough to set up via the online portal... except that it warns new students that they "may not be able to set up new accounts until February." Why is there so much of a rush for these forms in November?

The rest of the week looks so much more inviting already. I'll finish some more painting, put together a PDF for Weapons of the Gods (it might get posted on the email list as a freebie of some sort), pack my bags and head off to Anglesea for a training camp. I forsee being very sore next week - it's been at least 18 months since I did most of the stretches from Wushu, and the camp is apparently a combined Tai Chi/Kung Fu event. Still, it'll be the most intensive training I've done in a long while, which can only be a good thing as far as fitness goes.

Something has eaten all my weekends for the rest of the month. I blame Time Moths. When I find a weekend that doesn't have holes gnawed through it, I want to go for a day trip to break in some of the camping gear that's massing at home. My masochistic tendencies are considering the Thousand Steps walk in the Dandenong Ranges... it's recommended as a training hike for long trips, and has a thousand steps to climb. Maybe I'll find a free day in December sometime - we leave for Cradle Mountain at the start of January...

If, when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay
you minimise my movement anyway
I must persuade you another way...
