I haven't actually dropped off the face of the earth. I've been house-sitting since Arcanacon finished, and won't be properly back until Sunday night. [livejournal.com profile] aeliel and I are back in town tonight for the Tool concert (in about two hours) and then we're heading off again...

No computer or net connection while I'm out of town, although I have occasional mobile reception. If you need to contact me, SMS is your best bet.

Arc was fun, if exhausting. Next year I'll go back to the even more exhausting double-life, and try to spend at least two days in the roleplaying area - apart from the post-con dinner & drinks, I didn't really get a chance to catch up with anyone outside the WM and 40k areas. 170 players were enough of a handful to manage, this time, without looking for trouble elsewhere...

We had almost 150 players for 40k, with a ridiculously high standard for the painting competition. Somehow, we managed to get through almost 130,000 points of models between two painting judges, in under four sessions. My eyes still hurt.

Warmachine went well, with some very tactical games sorting out the rankings over the last few rounds. Now I want to play a few games, after running around all weekend running them for other people. Hopefully I'll get to work resin-casting the medals and trophy next week (as I've just spent $100 on casting equipment). Everything's sculpted and ready to go, so it's just a matter of getting a set of digital scales so I can accurately mix up some 2:100 silicone rubber for the moulds.

The next few games are well underway, after lots of ideas were spawned out of the convention + playtesting. I've noticed that I'm getting very picky about the structure of games, and balancing the relative importance and risk/reward of each character's goals. I'll probably muse about it over the next few days, and then forget it all before I sit down at a computer again.

I know someone with acess to a whole LAB full of digital scales. Seriously, it'll take me something like 2 min to go upstairs, weigh stuff, and bring it back down to you. Let me know.

I think we're likely to buy a set of kitchen ones anyway - the scales we have at the moment have trouble measuring anything less than about 20g.

I'll be mixing up epoxies and silicon rubber, so it will probably be easiest to weigh them in plastic cups and mix everything up straight away. Thanks for the offer though :)

If I hadn't seen you @ postcon, I might have thought you'd been packed with some of the GW stuff :)
