The Butcher of Khardov

I've just finished painting these for Lon... hopefully I'll see them on a gaming table soon.

Lots of fun to paint. These are the third batch of Khadoran figures that I've painted, and the large flat armour plates are always fun to add detail to. Rust (orange and red-brown washes), soot (black and dark brown stippled and drybrushed on to the models), worn steel (blue and grey washes) and rivets all help to break up the surfaces a little.

First time I've used transfers in quite a while. They didn't work quite the way I'd hoped, so I broke up the outline by painting extra detail across the surface. It's also the first time I've experimented with snow (Jo Sonja's acrylic texture paste - I think it's marble dust in some kind of water-bases suspension). It's quite difficult to place accurately, but it has a good shape to it. I've also added a thin layer of snow to the Frost Axe blades, after trying a dozen different ways of painting "cold" into them...
