Games

I have a lot of games that need to be played... the biggest problem is always finding time to play them in, followed closely by finding people to play them with.

Sometime soon, I need to organise a one-shot Dread game through I.I. Since spruiking the game at the end of the AGM, travel and business stuff have kept me too busy to get back to it. However, I noticed that Mind Games sell cheap "no name" versions of Jenga, so I should be able to get hold of the only real prop easily enough. Now I just have to set a time and get some players. I'll be using the system to run a sci-fi survival horror story.

I've also become addicted to Lacuna Part I, despite the maddeningly cryptic information about the game online. I picked up a copy of it yesterday, and have been wanting to put it to use since I started reading. The setting uses an interesting premise: what if the 'collective unconsciousness' was real, and able to be explored? What if abberant behaviour was treatable, able to be 'removed' from within that unconscious landscape? Another game to run sooner rather than later, when I can find time. Ideally I'd like 2-3 sessions, with multiple trips inside the Blue City.

We also have a cupboard of board games that rarely see the light of day. I haven't dragged Necronomonopoly out of the cupboard for years, and I want to try playing it with the errata added since I last tried it out (the first game devolved into a mass of monsters and cultists in a few short rounds - now monsters vanish when reaching Mi-Go, so the descent into madness takes a bit longer). And there are 20+ RoboRally boards that should get used one day, too.

Maybe I should take advantage of the cold weather and start organising indoor things before everyone heads back outside again...

Well I'm in for random gaming - board, roleplaying or otherwise - so if you're looking for players, keep me mind. Similarly, I'll give you a heads up next time I'm planning something here.

I'm an abnormal gamer though - winter means I'm more likely to be outside: snowboarding! However, weeknights are usually fine, and there's also the weekends that I'm on call and need to be near an internet connection.

Will do :)

I'll be looking for people to play Lacuna sometime soon, so if you're interested in trying out some surreal sci-fi (secret agents hunting Hostile Personalities through a dreamscape) you're welcome to join in. I'll post something about it once I've digested a bit more of the game.

Check! Sign me up for any of those for playing. Especially RoboRally. I've been itching to play that again for ages.
I can always lend you my Jenga set too since its not going to get much use until I run my next Dread anyway.

Cool :) I think a RoboRally afternoon needs to be organised sometime soon. I'll bring a diary along to the game on Wednesday, and we can pick a day...

I think I'll probably get one of the "Janga" sets from Mind Games, as they're fairly cheap ($12-18 depending on size) and good to have on hand for spontaneous Dread sessions :)

If I was planning to run more Dread...which I am...its just a matter of when, I was thinking to get a few alternative sets and do stuff to them to add to the game. Perhaps painting them...say red...or black...and black would be interesting in a darkened room. Trying out different variations for the tower at any rate.

Tim did his fluoro and then had blacklights. It was neat :)

I heard about that one. Part of the inspiration to true funky things with the blocks.

Reading the info under your link to Lacuna Part I makes it sound very Matrix-esque. Very funky.

I'm rather rusty when it comes to RP skills, but if you're looking for numbers, I'd be interested. And I think Mikee would be up for a few rounds of Necronomonopoly ;)

Sure :) I should have a better idea of what and when I want to organise by the weekend.

When do you get back in town? Have you played RoboRally before? I think you (and Mikee) would like it. It's a boardgame for out-of-control robots, racing around a factory floor after hours... part of the game involves collecting checkpoint flags, and a healthy part of the game involves shunting the other robots into bottomless pits/conveyor belts to nowhere/through oil slicks. The more battered your robot gets, the less control you have over where it goes.

I got back on Friday - though still not quite operating in this time zone.

Haven't played RoboRally before, but it sounds hillarious! Think you've got Mikee down pat too. Sounds just like his sort of game ;)
