There's a school swimming carnival happening in the pool across the street. A wisecracking teacher is making announcements over the PA system, treating the captive audience to his standup routine. Maybe it's just the acoustics, but I can't hear the roar of laughter from the crowd...

The thing that most confuses me is this: what kind of school names their houses Dragon, Demon and Sabre?

Edit: Sabre house has hacked their way to bloody victory over the demons and dragons that opposed them. Still not sure if the school is secretly controlled by gamers, metalheads, or both.

A school dominated by boys who decided to "let the kids have a vote on their house names - you know, to get them more involved in it" would be my guess? And they banned using Slytherin as a name? /shrug

...I was hoping for an Abomination victory over the Skull Takers this season, though the Children of Gore were looking good until that messy accident during the Year Nine relay...

I'm guessing this isn't one of the many Catholic schools in our area ;)

Hmmm... I want to know what the ultimate trophy is called at that school. Our house winning the house trophy in my final year was nice and all, but it probably would have been nicer if it wasn't called the Cock House.

Wasn't there a Sabre House at the Assassin's Guild in Ankh-Morpork?

I'm not sure their teachers would have been allowed to get away with unsolicited stand-up, though...
