More fires

The Muskvale area (Hogan's Road, ~5km south of Daylesford) is burning at the moment, with the wind headed northeast. There are also a few smaller fires in Daylseford, but the CFA incident summary shows 90 units deployed at the Muskvale fire. Southeast of Muskvale is Blackwood, nestled amongst the dense bushland of the Wombat State Forest.

aeliel's parents were preparing to evacuate when she called them, as they'd heard reports of fire at Barry's Reef - much closer to home, about 2km down the road. The CFA don't have any incidents listed for Barry's Reef, so it may just be smoke from the other fires. R just rang back to say that they'd decided to stay, as it's started raining a little. Blackwood House is right on the main street, not far from the CFA station. I hope they get some more rain tonight.

I did hear a report a few weeks back that fires were threatening the areas around Blackwood.

I hope fires steer of the area and that Aliel's folks are unscathed.

http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/fires is good for keeping up with the ones on public land.

I've been reading all about teh fires up there, thinking of you all and hope that rain kept up!
