Almost too much of a good thing...
Jan. 11th, 2004 01:44 amIt's been longer than I realised, but the painting bug came and bit me again tonight. Thinking back through the hectic mess that happened last year, I guess I walled off some things in order to keep up with the field trips, projects, and work. After most of a year, though, I'm back into old habits once more...
I may be back at work now, but I finally feel like I'm having a real holiday :) My desklamp is curing the latest sculpt, my index finger is more firmly attached to its fingernail by a smudge of errant superglue, and the back of my left hand shows the familiar signs of acting as a palette; smeared with streaks of black, turquoise and silver. Paints, inks and varnishes join forces with a motley assortment of brushes, files, and sculpting tools in an attempt to take over my desk - and I think they're winning. Hour by hour, more of the old desktop is pushed aside, or buried under the new - it's a mess, but it's a creative mess, so I can't really fault it ;)
Once upon a time, I'd sit and paint or sculpt until I got hungry, or until the CD player finished. However, I'm too stubborn to acknowledge hunger unless my hands shake too much to hold a brush, these days... and my current playlist is 46 hours long. Hmmmm... somehow, I think I might need to find other ways of remembering to stop...
Neck seizing up, hands refusing to grip the brush, and flickering eyesight might do it, though. Guess it's time to stretch for a bit, and then get some sleep...
And a meme, from
kikilon's journal: ( The state of my life )
Nearing the end of my life's journey? Well, after all the build-up, I certainly hope I get to enjoy it for a while...
