One Melways.
One warm evening.
One guesstimation of my riding speed.
One guess at the location of supermarkets in Brunswick.
Nope, no matter how many ways I try to figure this out, I don't think I can ride fast enough to get icecream to
kikilon's birthday. Looks like I'll have to come up with some other plan... one that involves a different variety of dessert, and probably a tram. Hmmm...
I recieved a (very late) email at work, today, as I have just returned from leave. I have essentially been asked to specify the last day of my course, to factor this into the current budget calculations. Sound strange? Well, the assumption that The Powers That Be have made, is that after the end of my course I will no longer be working at CSIRO. The new qualification etc will change my working agreement too much, and they have expressed a desire to get rid of me for well over a year now.
The option (I find it amusing that it's called an "option" given that it's the only one they will offer) now is to continue working for an absolute maximum of 12 months, or to the end of my course - whichever comes sooner. After that, my time with them will officially come to an end, after four years of work.
Looks like I'd better start thinking about next year sooner than I planned to...
In other news, we had a small group for the Internal Liu He class on Monday, probably due to the Easter weekend. I learned the first section of the Liu He Mantis "Short Hammer Fist," though - quite a nice form. Very different to the Meihua forms, but quite a different emphasis on hand techniques to the other Liu He mantis forms. Lots more waist movement, different footwork, and no kicking... should round out the set quite nicely ;)
Right - enough of this five-minute back-from-work break. Time to find this birthday thing...
