The Breakfast of Reanimated Champions
Feb. 21st, 2005 05:04 pmWell, Saturday night was my first non-NYE venture to Camilla's, and I like it a lot. After all the bad press I've heard about it, it turned out to be a damn good night out... I stayed on the upstairs dancefloor until we left in the wee small hours of the morning, and have thoroughly exhausted myself. I picked up some passes when I was leaving, and I intend to go back there again ;-)
After so many hours of activity, and a late sleep-in, we needed help. Not just breakfast (at 4pm) - things called for life-support on a plate. Old recovery-favourites were blended with new cooking ideas, and The Breakfast of Reanimated Champions was born - rye toast, heaped with potato/chickpea/spinach/mustard seed goodness, and accompanied by tandoori mushrooms and eggplant steaks...
I have posted this and a few other vegetarian and vegan recipies over in
santushhtah. If anyone is reading this is interested in my improvised-cooking experiments, I'm also adding them to my Memories page, at http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=morsla&keyword=Food&filter=all (note that the Memories page will have all my food experiments, not vust the vego/vegan ones). Failing that, you could do worse than joining that community - it has many tasty food ideas in it.
In other news, the grammar/style lessons (designed for one hour per chapter) are taking me around 20 minutes to work though on the train, although my early-morning brain probably isn't taking it all in. Each chapter so far is a blend of things I already knew, things I knew about but couldn't name, and things I've never heard of. I'm averaging about 85-90% on the chapter exercises, but some of that is just infering meanings from multi-choice titles. My brain haemorrages knowledge at 7:45am...
My spare time is mainly going into painting, until the Liber Animus tournament runs in April. I realised that I have less than seven weeks to go, with a huge pile of models still to paint. Just to make things interesting,
aeliel and I are heading to Tasmania one weekend soon; Conquest is the week after that, and housewarmings/games/Pirates! fill up the remaining time quite well. Fortunately I have spent many years refining my Time Dilating Eight-Hobbies-At-Once stance. I fear not, for I have no common sense!
