It has arrived!
Dec. 8th, 2005 01:07 pm"I'll give my blessing," said Wu, "if you'll promise to redeem her, and drag her back into using her talents to fix the wrongs of the world."
Yuan calculated. "Done."
Ching blinked. "I don't agree to that!"
"It's her promise, not yours," said Wu. "Now go away and let me die."
"My legs are broken," Ching pointed out.
"Don't spoil a happy ending with complaints," said Yuan.
"My legs are broken and I have a nagging wife."
"Life is full of sorrow," said Master Wu wisely, and he died.

It's taken almost a year longer than expected, but I finally have a copy of Weapons of the Gods in my hands. I've had a .pdf version for a while now, but I'm one of those old-fashioned types who likes reading tactile books... I can read them away from the computer, and I don't have to scroll up and down to read the columns. It's also much prettier than the screen can ever do justice to - 386 pages of high-resolution colour.
I'll be running a version of A Broken City at Retrocon next year, using the new system - before then, I'll be finishing off a conversion for Kindred of the East. There's something appealing about characters that went to Hell for good reason, and clawed their way back out to find a greater destiny. Adding Demon Chi to the system (even in very small amounts) does some very interesting things, with huge implications for the upper-level powers. Converting "classic" wuxia to a cyberpunk setting will also shake things up just a little.
Time seems to be rapidly running out. Most of January will be spent in Tasmania (Overland track + wandering about in Hobart), with Arcanacon consumed by miniatures games (I'm running Warmachine, and helping with the 120-player 40k monstrosity). Sometime before then I need to paint my entries for the next Reaper painting contest, meet my sister at the airport after her global ramblings, borrow a dehydrator to prepare food for the hike, spend a few days doing some training walks with my pack, finish Tai Chi for the year and go to a bunch of end-of-year functions. Christmas will also happen in there somewhere.
