morslaI'm learning things. Sure, I'm mainly learing where the gaps in my knowledge are, but any learning has to be a start...
I spent most of Sunday fumbling my way through InDesignCS, and I'm finally getting the hang of it. I tend to be intimidated by Adobe programs (so many toolbars! So many options!) but InDesign is probably the most intuitive layout software I've used - it's just a matter of unlearning bad habits from other applications. I'm almost finished with the first issue of Insurgent, and it should be uploaded to http://www.wargamerau.com in the next couple of days.
My compulsive buying of art supplies is going virtual, now that I've rediscovered the world of Photoshop... specifically, starscapes and planets in this sort of style . Some of the textures are generated from random noise, which I think is kinda cool - each picture will be different. Other textures are brought in from existing images - everything from lichen on tree bark, to satellite images of New York, can be used to add details to the images. It's great - my lust for paint/brushes/sculpting tools can also be sated by taking/finding photos with useful patterns in them.
