Eye of the storm

morslaLast night I loaded up my music player with eight hours of dark ambient noise and Silent Hill tracks. Working in a lab filled with rusting metal and bubbling beakers of acid has never felt quite so creepy...
In other news, I tracked down Apocalyptica's new (self-titled) album. It's... different... but still very good. Opening with guitars and vocals was a bit of a shock to the system, but the familiar cello and violin are woven through the rest of the album. Now, if only they'd tour down here... unfortunately, the band is heading up through northern Europe soon and seems unlikely to travel down to Oz.
This weekend I finally don't have to run off anywhere. It's been a long time since I had a weekend for myself, and it may be a long time before I see one again. The next few hold a trip to Cradle Mountain, Conquest, my graduation (eek!), a wedding (hurrah!) and the Liber Animus tournament. In preparation for that last one, I "only" have 65 models left to paint in the next four weeks of after-work time :) (50 infantry, 10 cavalry, 3 vehicles, 1 Hero, 1 spy). Time I stopped wasting all those hours asleep each night...
