morslaMore work thoughts. Sorry if these are getting annoying, but it's a Current Event that's getting plenty of airtime in my brain...

aeliel, I realised something about work. I'm now going to treat the rest of my holiday pay as pseudo-long-service-leave, extending beyond the end of my current contract :) I'll be getting paid it in one big lump sum, but it's essentially the same as 35 days of pay... or three and a half months of leave @ half pay. It's a nice amount to have sitting in the background, quietly increasing in value as I've had pay advances over the past five years.
My supervisor is still confident that I should have a contract until December, although there is no word from HR. Technically they've already given me my notice, so they don't need to give me a new contract (if it's coming at all) until next Friday. Despite the optimism of other workmates, I'm not starting any new tasks until I know that I'll be around to finish them. If I haven't heard anything by the middle of next week, I'll clean up my office and pack my bags... I have some breathing room while I continue looking for other work, and there will be no point stubbornly working beyond the 30th in the hope that I'll be reimbursed for it.
I wonder what I'll be up to on October 3rd? Will I be at work? Unconscious? Dead from explosive decompression/sudden lack of stress? After my contract and UniCon are over, I don't have anything on the radar. There's a Singularity on the horizon...
