It's a week for ending things, and for beginning something new. I have three months of relative freedom on my hands, and I intend to put them to use. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the sheer range of Stuff that can be achieved with a couple of spare weekdays - I can stretch and train in the park while it's still light... go to the market for fresh ingredients... cook food that doesn't have to be ready in ten minutes after work...

I've also discovered five-packs of daily train tickets. I only really need to catch the train five days a fortnight, to get to work. Any other trips I can walk or ride, which gives me incentive (and time!) to take my bike out more often. Less work to stress over + more time to exercise + better range of fresh food = a few months to get my life back in order.

My ankles are slowly recovering, and I'm starting to work on getting my flexibility back. I've been stretching my ankles whenever I'm waiting for a train, which (given the current level of incompetence shown by Metlink) means I get plenty of ligament stretches done each day... I want to go climbing again (it's been years), so I'm also trying to get some more upper body & grip strength. Soon, no playground or large public sculpture will be safe :)

Over the next fortnight I'll be clearing enough space to work productively from my painting desk, and discarding all the pointless things that have accumulated in three different houses. I think I can clear about three large boxes of junk from under the stairs, making room for the camping gear that we now have in the house. Discardia may be over for the current season, but that's no reason to stop now...

Any extra space can be put to use as it appears. I want to buy a scanner - partly to remove the need to horde old magazines for a few scattered articles, and partly because I want to play with Photoshop and Illustrator. I also want to build a diffused light box for macrophotography, which will be handy when it comes to actually selling some of the things I've painted. The challenge is to fill the house with more relevant items, occupying less space. I'll see how I go.

...and my ties are severed clean
The less I have the more I gain
Off the beaten path I reign
Rover wanderer nomad vagabond
Call me what you will

We shall keep thee informed about our rock-climbing trips.

I believe they are currently on hold due to exams and slackness on the behalf of regulars.

There may be the possiblity on finding you bedspace the night before if travel to Nunawading is an issue.

That would be great :) Nunnawading isn't too hard to get to (tram then train, takes a bit over an hour) - getting there from the station is the main tricky part.
