Adventures of the Invisible Man
I sat silently through a three-hour meeting at Clayton yesterday. In the previous meeting, I didn't appear in any of the project groups as I was considered "unassigned staff" - this meeting was designed to deal with the unallocated people, and apparently I'm no longer in that group either. I've become quite invisible.

I am either employed or unemployed at the moment. Until I receive a letter (or perhaps until I open it...) both states are superimposed - it's impossible to tell whether or not I really have a job. Believe me, I've been trying to find out... I've found nothing on any line of questioning, so I'm starting to think that I can't actually observe that condition.

Passing on
Can I get an exorcist to clear things up? Circumstances lead me to believe that my job died, and I've kept walking through the corridors like a ghost in a labcoat. I'm not listed in any project, but the security doors allow me to pass. Nobody's broken the news to me yet - not even so much as a "sorry Ben, you're dead" to stop me coming in to work.

I checked my ability to care about it all, and I couldn't find a pulse. I have about a year's worth of commission painting to fall back on, the weather's nice (sunshine and thunderstorms), and I don't have to spend the rest of Spring stuck in this building. There's just this little doubt scratching at the back of my mind, wanting to know what's happened. My pay's been cut by half, but I haven't seen a contract telling me when to stop coming in. Until that day, I'll linger here while I set things in order so that I can move on.

Schroedinger's cat you may be, but they say a cat can look a king in they eye...In other, less cryptic, words, cheer up.

*grins* I'm quite cheerful, actually. I'm only have one day of work in the next eleven, and the weather has warmed up... it's a good time of year to be outside.

I'm more whimsical than melancholy, of late. It amused me this morning, when I realised that I'm more ghost than scientist - it explains a lot :)

You've gone from a scientist to a necromancer!

Oh no! But I don't have the right hat!

I'll also be needing an eerie black labcoat with a high collar, and a skull to carry around. If I wait until after Halloween I should be able to get the right uniform quite cheaply...
