I can cure your jetlag with this brick
Feb. 16th, 2007 12:13 amWhere the weather failed to send me back into nocturnal operating hours, my new neighbours have succeeded. Generally speaking, I don't mind the changover. I'd prefer to have done it on my own terms, though...
Unit 22 is now full of loud American exchange students, who keep their music pumping until at least 2am. That's not too much of a problem, as I'm usually still working when they run out of beer and call it a night. Unfortunately, the communal gathering spot they've chosen is right under my bedroom window. Brick walls bounce the sound straight upwards, filling the room with endless drunken retellings of "like, this guy I know, he's, like, man, you've gotta meet him..."
Last night, their loudest decided to call home after the others called it a night. To avoid waking his flatmates, he decided to stand outside and yell down the phone (maybe he thought the volume would help his voice to cross the Pacific?). The call started at 4am, ending when his phone went flat at 6am. When the sun started to light up the eastern horizon, I finally grabbed half an hour of sleep before
aeliel's alarm went off.
I think I slept from 9am - 1pm today, and then walked in to the city to do some shopping. I'm not sure whether I should try going to bed now, or if I should just give up on the sleep idea 'til the neighbours have all passed out. I'd just plug in some headphones and start painting, but the humidity is cranked up to 'ludicrous' and I'd just be killing time when I could be doing something productive, like killing my neighbours.
