I never thought I'd say it, but I think I'm missing the end-of-year work functions that usually happen at about this point in December.

Synergy moved their Christmas lunch to today, when I'd made plans to go in tomorrow. So, I've missed it entirely, and won't be seeing them until some time next year - if at all. The other two designers are both intending to stay on, and while I'm told that there will be work in February, I don't know that there will be anything for me to do. I seem to have quite effectively been cut out of the loop over the last week.

Still, I'm getting my share of end-of-year wrap up without having any "official" things to go to. The penultimate Iron Kingdoms game ran tonight, combining mexican standoff situations and machiavellian manipulations (in game) with vast quantities of food and an unofficial christmas celebration. Tomorrow night will be the third "christmas special" for

miss_rynn's game, which has become a tradition all of its own ;)

I spent today trying to paint christmas presents, and being foiled by the heat. Blending colours is tricky when the pigments have a working life of about five seconds. The "natural" blue-white of my daylight bulbs contrasts oddly with the lambent orange glow of the sunlight, filtered through clouds of smoke. I hope the bushfire season ends soon...
