Stupid website questions...
Jun. 28th, 2007 07:58 pmI'm sure there are simple answers to these, but my brain is currently a bit fried...
Here's my conundrum:
* I want to buy a .com.au domain, probably from http://ireckondomains.com.au/ as they're the cheapest I've found.
* I currently have a ludicrous amount of space for morsla.net at http://www.siteground.com
* Siteground are in the US, and can't register an australian domain name for me
* I can buy an addon domain slot for my account, to use said ludicrous amount of space for a second website
Can I:
* Purchase an addon domain with Siteground
* Register a domain with Ireckon
* Point it at the new Siteground addon slot by replacing the Ireckon DNS settings with those of my Siteground account
From what I've read, there shouldn't be any problems pointing the domain at my Siteground site.
What I can't do is transfer the domain over to Siteground, as it fails to meet several criteria (was created within the past 60 days, doesn't have the required extensions, etc).
Do I make any sense? Please tell me if I'm relying on faulty leaps of logic here...

Date: 2007-06-29 02:42 am (UTC)After more digging, it looks like that's exactly what I'm supposed to do with a .au domain. Now my only worry is whether I'm likely to run into problems using an add-on slot to host an online store.
I can't see any direct problems, but it positions the files one level deeper into their directory structure... which may not confuse the database at all, but it could well confuse me...
