What you do when you're not asleep
Dec. 17th, 2003 01:10 amWhat else would I be doing now?
Sure, I was tired before (and fell asleep on the train home from work), but I've woken up again and discovered a whole world of interesting music and almost-music on the other end of this computer. Heh... I may never sleep again :)
http://www.kittyspit.net/erik/mp3/linkpage.html has a lot of interesting stuff. A lot of stuff. Any site that has links for everything from Ukrainian traditional music to drum'n'bass gets my vote...
I think I'll sate some of my current Aphex Twin binge by buying an album on the weekend. As fun as searching for oddments on the net can be, there are a couple of songs that I really want to listen to again. Mind you, I probably shouldn't be buying much of anything lately, as I had some "great" news from work today.
Once again, the perennial question of whether I'll be in a job beyond the 31st has come around. This time, it's more personal than usual, and I don't think I can afford to leave it until mid January to say "hey, am I working here or not?"
It's a strange way of looking at things - people who hold the purse strings would like me out of a job, so they can save the paltry amount of money that they pay me. They don't realise that without the work getting done, they lose all the income they planned to recieve... thus costing them a lot more.
Where does it leave me, at the moment? Too beaten down and tired to fight back, right now. I'll lose myself in a few more random songs, and zone out for a while, but in a few hours I have to contact the pay office and find out if I still have a job.
"Merry Christmas - and don't come back next year. Ho ho. Ho."
