Ever felt like your brain has been dragged out your left nostril, pounded on with a hammer, and forcibly replaced via your right eye-socket? I have...

On one hand, I think I'm learning more fancy things to do with spreadsheets. And slowly picking up the basics, too... rather slowly, though. On the other hand, I'm really not sure how much else managed to penetrate my brain, today - all sorts of things went whizzing over my head, in the latest round of coursework. Five days of Igneous Geodynamics and Magmatic Ore Deposits, this week... plenty of interesting stuff concerning sulfide ore deposits for nickel, copper, and platinum-group elements, and a day on diamonds. I can't help but feel like I'm being left behind, though.

I left the house at a little after 7am, and I got home at about 7pm - with about another 3+ hours of work tonight. To avoid the end-of-week avalanche of work, everything is due at 9am the day after it's taught - problem is, that leaves a fair bit of stuff to do overnight between days. The Melbourne group are the only Honours students in the course, it seems - everyone else has at least a year or two of experience in the specific field we're covering. I can only hope that I know as much detail/trivia after the end of this year...

On the bright side, my latent Monash-uni direction senses haven't abandoned me. I can find shortcuts to the most obscure little buildings... it's largely a matter of trying not to think about where I'm headed. Turn left here right here, pick a random door, and suddenly you're standing in the classroom, with a lecturer saying "I wasn't sure if anyone would find this room..." :-) It's a handy trick, but if this is my only Secret Mutant Power, I feel like asking for a genetic re-shuffle...

genetic reshuffle...

Don't do it. There's worse powers than Uncanny Sense of Finding Random Rooms.
I think you're limited to 2 3/7th reshuffles per life cycle, and you could find yourself stuck with Can See Through Shiny Objects or Knows The Word For A New Colour When He Sees It.
And let's not forget the ever so unpopular Communication With Dead Flowers....

Seeing through shiny objects would be a problem, if I'm trying to dedicate a degree to them. I'd have so much trouble trying to focus on my lab samples...

Comunication With Dead Flowers might have its uses. Who knows just what they might have seen?

Thats a pretty good super power, I can't even find rooms when I know where they are. I guess my super power might be a sort of empath-type thing. But that doesn't exactly increase my over all well being.

Maybe you only know where the rooms were? Tricksy rooms... I'm sure they must move around sometimes. And then there are the places that you can only find if shown the right path; and the ones that you only find when you really need them. Hmmm... me, read too much fiction? Never ;-)

Empathy is a tricky one. You can "cheat" to increase your wellbeing by helping the others around you - but it can be hard keeping filters up when the local mood sinks - it's easy to get dragged down with it.

The rooms moving...I hadn't thought of that, but it would explain a lot.
