New Year's Resolutions:
1. Flexibility. I've lost too much of it, in the last few months - however, I've managed to stretch a little bit each day lately. If I can keep it up for the year, it won't be a problem any more. Two years ago I could drop into the splits cold... I can still comfortably kick above my head, but I'd like something other than my hamstrings to be able to stretch...
2. Training. I'd like to get back to two classes a week, at least. Lack of time, a crucial lack of money (I pay per month of classes usually) and apathy have stopped me from getting to more than one class a week since late September. I now have a park across the street, with a paved area large enough for my Tai Chi forms - once I get a little more in shape, I'll start Liu He again.
3. Finishing things. There are all sorts of half finished projects hanging over my head. I'm good at planning and starting things, and good at teaching other people how to finish them - but I rarely seem to finish things on my own. That has to change in the next week, though...
Here are a few of the things brewing at the moment:
][con 40k: The fifth and final 40k tournament that I'll be running, which takes place this weekend (Saturday 8th). Venue is booked, public liability insurance and liquor licence are finalised, tables and terrain are being rounded up. I'll pick up the prizes this week, write the missions and prepare the scoring sheets. We should have 60-70 players this time.
Snow and Thunder: A Weapons of the Gods game for Arcanacon, written with
bishi_wannabe. We have characters, plot and locations sketched out - I'll be building the stripped-down version of the mechanics for the convention. *gasp* Yes, that's right - we'll actually have some dice with us... it's a very simple system, but the best one I've seen to represent a wuxia/Kung Fu game.
The Maiden of Gears: The Steampunk freeform that
aeliel and I are writing for Arcanacon. 31 characters to write (yes, it's a big one...). Sealing wax to order in (for the character sheets). A bag of cogs to find (I had it just before I moved...) to stamp into the sealing wax on each character sheet. Props to make. Madness...
Armoured Comapany: Final details to be added to Kane's tanks, for Arc. He'll be taking them on to the field for the Imperial Front game (30,000 points of vehicles on the table!). Some act of stupidity made me decide to paint the rivets on the things - all 460 per tank, on eight tanks...
After that, I just need to paint some of the models on my desk, and find new homes for the old ones.
Does anyone know a 40k Dark Eldar player? I have a box of figures that I'd like to give away...
