Question and answer
Feb. 14th, 2005 02:26 pmHypothetical Question: If every bit of contact with your beloved shortened the time you could spend with them, would you draw out your time as long as possible, in tiny scraps of attention? Or would you take everything all at once, remove all hope of seeing them in the future, and hurl yourself off a cliff in remorse at a life that is no longer worth living?
Incorrect Answer: What's the cliff made out of?
It's Hallmark's-persecution-of-single-folk day. Let's all just ignore the occasion, and celebrate throughout the year...
In other news, much painting is happening at the moment. My efforts are fueled by the mighty powers of Competitive Procrastination - each of my hobbies can best be done while I'm procrastinating all the others.

Witch-hunting Inquisitor, and a pair of assassin twins (used as a single assassin in the game). Slightly blurry photo, taken at 1am... but I'm quite happy with the metallics on the assassins, the inquisitor's skull & candleflame, and the blue crystal weapons.
I'm trying to paint an awful lot of things, and actually succeeding. Kane's Armoured (Vanquisher) company reaped the field at the Arcanacon tank game, taking about 3300VP for a total loss of 175VP. It's back in the shop (i.e. my desk) for repairs, extra markings, and then he's selling it to someone in Europe...
I painted a few more Cryx models, as my enthusiasm for War Machine picked up again after a couple of games against
bishi_wannabe. I'll take photos tonight - I now have a spider tank (looks like a clockwork lictor...), and two artillery pieces made of several stitched-together zombies. It's all good.
I'm slowly piecing together the Insurgent 'zine, and writing an article on converting fantasy-era Ogres to sci-fi Ogryn. I'm almost finished painting them (final photos should be taken later this week) - after that, I'll put them up on Ebay to see what prices they can get.
Sculpting has been coming along nicely - I've added pouches, hoods, robes and new arms/hands to models for the Liber Animus tournament, and started on the Stealerfex brood for Steve. This basically takes a pair of scythe-clawed alien monstrosities and makes them bigger and spikier - good practice, as I can sculpt something completely inhuman for a change.
Liber Animus runs on April 9-10, and I need 2000 points of the Imperial Guard army pictured above. Current tally: 6 painted models. Needed: 50 Infantry, 10 elite infantry, 10 cavalry, 3 transport vehicles, 2 flame tanks, 2 siege tanks. I think I should get a move on...

Date: 2005-02-14 04:02 am (UTC)There's a Brian Lumley story that this post reminds me of...about a man who could take people's lives and make himself immortal for a period of time, but when it ran out he'd age several times as many years as he'd taken, so he had to take more every time, and more frequently...and he decimated the entire world population! *oooOOOooo*

Date: 2005-02-14 06:00 am (UTC)I think the original conversation had the other person being edible... would you nibble away at them for years, or eat them whole in a few moments (and find things unbearable after they were gone). The (il)logical counter-question blunders obliviously past the moral dilemma, and wonders what the clifftop is made from.
Damn geologists :)
