I've never been very good at keeping track of time. I think that when I start concentrating on something, the part of my brain that ought to notice things like "it's getting pretty late" gets drafted into thinking about the current project, and so I'm always surprised to discover how long I've been working for...

I sat down to do some painting last night. There's a job due tomorrow (finish today, post tomorrow morning) and I've missed a few days of work lately - so I put my head down and started work. Then, suddenly it was the wee small hours of Monday and I remembered that I was planning to get an early start today. Does it count as a start if you never actually stopped?

Once upon a time, Ulthwe Eldar had a bland-and-boring mostly black colour scheme, with no real interesting bits to paint. Now, artists like George Dellapina have made them much more interesting to work with... I'm finishing up a Falcon in the new colours, and quite enjoying it.

Apart from painting, I had a good weekend - games on Friday night, lunch and wandering in the Botannic Gardens on Saturday, and a random phonecall from [livejournal.com profile] fetnas yesterday. How was your weekend?

I have to make it to the Flinders Ranges one day... I keep seeing shiny things that people bring back from their trips :)

The weekend kind of kicked off to an early start with my skipping one politics class to stay longer at another - we were talking about the Liberal and National parties and so we had scones and cream.

On Saturday I was experimenting with burger patty recipes for an idea for [livejournal.com profile] mercdaemon's themed party idea. Also made myself a giant pot of pasta soup anticipating that Mum's Vietnamese beef noodle soup wasn't going to be enough. I was kind of right in my prediction, but my pot of soup was reduced to a small bowl by the time dinner came around. I didn't even eat most of it...

On Sunday there was playing team Magic with [livejournal.com profile] mercdaemon. First game of Magic in three months (a recurring theme really), we did well enough. The even took place at the Abbotsford Convent while the market was on. Interesting to see the members of the public randomly wandering about watching games of Magic (normally RMIT security scares the odd student away). ALso interesting to see gamers baulk at the cost of artisan food from the cafe. Dinner afterwards at Kum Den was a bit dissappointing, it just turned 5 and they had just opened for dinner so things weren't too great.

Gamers easily baulk at the cost of food - they compare it with the number of booster packs etc that they could buy in place of lunch, and decide to go without food instead...

What do you eat when talking about the Labor party?

Ah, the reason for the themed morning that morning was because the lecturer couldn't fit in much talk about the Nationals while having a special guest. The special guest in question turned out the be spirit of Sir Robert Menzies. Once his feat of video based necromancy was completed, I guess he had a heap of preparation time left over and scones was a good a timekiller as any.

The Labor party and its history is the lecturer's specialty so his lecture stunt was limited to complaining about how reporters keep taking his quotes out of context and getting a bit of revenge. Prior to the scones, I think the one I liked best was when explaining the varying poles of the poltican spectrum, he dressed in the colour of the particular group. Towards the end there was a red chequered shirt with a blue jacket and black (anarachists) overcoat. Accessories included green bracers and a purple scarf.

The class is the 3 hour class followed by 3 hours of another class so eating is quite popular in general though.

I didn't go to my cello lesson, was feeling ick.
Went to look at the place with all the choices for house stuff (have to go and make decisions on Thursday) it's way boring - and kinda scary.
Prayed to the porcelain gods some more, cos ya know, I just don't do enough of that these days.
Isobel left me a present, the back half of a mouse. Cleaning this up caused more vomit.... It wouldn't have, but the super-pregnant-lady sense of smell is evil!

Also I can now feel the baby turning itself over. It's somewhere between a cramp and really bad indigestion. Baby is especially active when I accidentally lean on the benches at work with my new shiny HUGE tummy of doom!
