Ever noticed that it's not possible to have an "average" day of work? There seem to be two sorts of days, imiscible as oil and water. If it were possible, a steady rate of work would slowly clear the horizon of tasks. Instead it goes in fits and starts; surrounded one moment, free the next.

There are days where nothing happens, by accident or design. I feel drained after these days, and never have anything to show for them. Perhaps something is started, but nothing is ever finished. Spare time falls through the gaps in the world, trickling away until midnight rolls around once more. The sun sets, the day ends, and I wonder why nothing has changed except the date. These days know that I hate them, and they try to convince me that they are inevitable.

Then, there are days of fluid activity, when nothing needs to stop. Days where I land on my feet, and my feet are already moving. These days are a backlash against the others, stubborn defiance fired in the face of soul-bleaching apathy. These are days where being alive means more than consuming resources. They are the the reason why I try to do everything at once, because sometimes I can succeed...

The weekend was almost as busy as it could have been, and I'm glad for it. I hammered and sawed things outside the front door, to the bemusement of neighbours; filed and sanded and glued. Helped [livejournal.com profile] mousebane and [livejournal.com profile] delphaeus move furniture to their new house; cooked, cleaned, stretched, sucked down fresh air like it was going out of fashion.

This will be a good week. I'm too busy to let the apathy win...

Good to see your list is in order of priority, too.

Well, [livejournal.com profile] miss_rynn's game should be a bit higher on the list. Work is in the right spot though ;)
